Pricing for my various services

Pricing can be difficult because it very much depends on the service required, as well as the complexity of the target project concerned.

However, I fully understand you want at least some idea. So each of the items listed below shows a starting price so you can get some indicative costs and timescales.

That said, it’s always best to book my FREE initial consultancy so I can factor in all your needs, and then send you a formal proposal.

Project Brief

Following one or more conversations with key stakeholders/sponsors, I will produce a Project Brief document that provides a full and firm foundation for the initiation of a project.

This usually takes between one and two weeks. It will include:

Project Background
Project definition
Outline Business Case
Quality Expectations
Acceptance Criteria
Risks

Project Initiation Document (PID)

Specifically for waterfall-based projects, this follows the PRINCE2^® methodology.

Expanding on the Project Brief, this involves numerous conversations with key stakeholders/sponsors and project team members. The result will be a Project Initiation Document (PID).

This artefact essentially initiates the project as well as indicate how it will be controlled. Depending on the content collated this may be delivered in multiple documents.

This usually takes between four and eight weeks. It will include:

– Project Definition
– Project Organisation
– Project Communication Plan
– Project Quality Plan (includes Change Management process)
– Project Controls (includes artefacts such as a Risk/Issues Log)
– Initial Business Case
– Initial Project Plan (includes project schedule, stage plan, Product Breakdown Structure, Product Flow Diagram, Budget)

End-to-End Project Management

Don’t have a Project Management Office (PMO) or even a Project Manager, but need one? I can come in and manage your project from start to finish (or to whatever point you wish).

Scope, deliverables and estimated timescales would be agreed during an initial consultation.

Day-rate contract priced at £550 per day

Project Health Check

Consultancy service to check and report on the status of your project. And if it’s stalled or derailed, the steps necessary to get it back on track.

Following one or more conversations with key stakeholders/sponsors and project team members, I will produce a traffic-light (RAG) report indicating the facets of the project along with their statuses.

Where project elements, issues and risks are not ranked green (i.e. red or amber), there will be accompanying recommendations provided to remediate/mitigate those identified issues.

This usually takes between two and four weeks. It will include:

Mid-Project Takeover

This service is essentially hiring me to manage a project that is already started, through to conclusion (or to a specific milestone).

Scope, deliverables and estimated timescales would be agreed during an initial consultation.

That will very much depend on the service you’ve chosen, and the complexity of the project involved. Following an initial FREE consultation to discuss your needs and goals, you will get a proposal that outlines the timescales.

Generally speaking, this all comes down to current workload. At the outset, you’ll be told my current availability, and a scheduled start date can be agreed from there.

Depending on the project type (Waterfall or Agile) I generally use PRINCE2^® or Scrum^® respectively. See my article here if you want to learn more about the methodologies I use.

Similarly to the “how long” question, this will very much depend on the service you’ve chosen, and the complexity of the project involved. Following an initial FREE consultation to discuss your needs and goals, you will get a proposal that outlines the costs.

In the case of a Project Brief, PID or Health Check, you will get one or more documents/reports.

For Project Takeover, or End-to-End Project Management, you will get full access to myself during the project , along with all relevant project documentation.
